Time, a strange concept. Something that we measure. Something that we waste. How much of it we have is unknown yet we cling to it like the most precious of metals. Time passes by, allowing the world to shape itself. It makes people age and it allows actions to become history.
Father Time is lord of all, remaining as gods rise and fall, as mother nature goes through her cycles. The most powerful thing ever is this abstract concept yet we never think a thing of it. Maybe clocks and watches are our shrines to show respect to the thing we run our lives by or maybe we really have to just watch it before it catches us up. It really makes you think.
I have wasted a lot of time, some may say the whole of my youth as I’ve become old before my time with my dad calling my Victor in reference to the character Victor Meldrew from the TV show ‘One Foot In The Grave’. I never seem to have time to do what I want and when I have spare time I don’t do anything with it. My life is ebbing away with the flow of time but that doesn’t matter because I’m just a spec of dust on the infinite tape-measure that is the span of time. (Aren’t I being joyful today).
This thing all things devours: birds, beasts, trees, flowers, gnaws iron, bites steel, grinds hard stones to meal, slays king, ruins town, and beats high mountain down. What is it? – Old riddle, used by Tolkien in The Hobbit.
I’ve had a week off work so I’ve not had the little bits of excitement that I normally get but I have tried to use the week well. I planned to write some more of my third book, then didn’t manage to get a word from the useless pit that my brain is turning into. I’ve been to the dump a few times, then to a school to get a fence and I went out with the dog which are both interesting enough in their own way though nothing incredible really happened.
On the gaming side of things, I’ve beat the main story of Far Cry 5 and I traded in my Nintendo Switch. (I’ve written my reasons for the trade in here.) I borrowed Skyrim and returned it two days later and have found enjoyment in Injustice 2.
Best look forward to next week and not think too much about time then eh.
