It got up and it danced away – Candace Flynn, Phineas and Ferb

The sheer absurdity of this sentence made me laugh to the point where my eyes watered. Candace herself then repeated the sentence believing it sounded weird, her mother then repeated it and Candace remarked that it even sounds weird when she says it.

The beauty of animation is that it can take itself as seriously as it wants. It can be the end of the world or a TV screen can get up and dance away.

Phineas and Ferb is a show that takes an easygoing attitude to the tone of the show and sometimes a single line like that makes the whole thing more than just background noise, it can be hilarious.

I think we all need these moments of absurdity in our lives because I think it was Charlie Chaplin who said “A day without laughter is a day wasted.” (Although I’ll acknowledge the possibility that it may have been someone else).
