I recently started watching Worst Cooks In America on Amazon Prime and I’ve realised that people don’t value home cooking enough, the ability to feed yourself with a proper meal made from scratch and the enjoyment of spending time in the kitchen is lost on many.
I made spring onion mash with chicken wrapped in bacon and baked beans today. Usually I’d just have a frozen pizza or pie or something but it feels good to create something. Warm meals like this are incredibly simple to make. I’ve been a bit fancy with the presentation but that was just me enjoying what I was doing, it isn’t required.
No matter what you think of yourself or your abilities in the kitchen it’s always the right time to create something satisfying for yourself. You don’t have to do it everyday and it can be as healthy or unhealthy as you like but do make sure you do some home cooking and learn to make at least one meal. It’s just great to do something like this.
Harvest Eating by Chef Keith Snow is an awesome source for cooking!

I’ve never been much of a fan of cookbooks because getting the ingredients together is often more cost and trouble than it’s worth. I prefer to use the BBC good food website or my own creations.
